A Live Conversation is an opportunity to provide direct feedback to someone conducting research with a company. In most cases, you’ll speak to someone face-to-face via Zoom, a third-party video conferencing tool.
Scheduling a session
When you click on the session link provided, you’ll be taken to a calendar with time slots you can choose from. Please take note of the amount of time required for the session before you select a time slot. Once you choose a time, click “Provide Contact Information” at the bottom of the page.
On the following screen, you’ll see the time and date you selected. You’ll also be asked to provide your name and email. This information is used to send you reminders about your reserved session. Once you enter your information, click “Schedule Interview”.
You’ll see a confirmation screen with some tips on how to prepare for your upcoming interview.
You’ll also be sent a confirmation email with these details, including a calendar event that we strongly recommend adding to your personal calendar.
Before the day of your Live Conversation session, make sure to download and install the Zoom software to your computer. You can download Zoom here.
Joining a session
On the day of your Live Conversation session, click the blue “Join Interview” button in the reminder email you received (or join from your calendar invite) 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. You’ll be taken to a browser page with details about your upcoming interview. Click the blue “Join Interview” button on this page, to launch Zoom and automatically join the meeting.
When prompted to share your audio, select the option to Join with Computer Audio for best results. Other audio options can lead to technical issues.
During a session
If you are asked to turn on your camera during the session, click the camera icon in the bottom left of the Zoom toolbar.
If you are asked to share your screen, click the green Share icon in the middle of the Zoom toolbar. You’ll have the option to share your entire screen or a specific application.
Ending a session
When you’ve finished your session, click the red “Leave” button in the bottom right of the Zoom toolbar. Your recorded session will automatically upload.
