What is UserTesting?
UserTesting helps brands gather feedback from people like you, in order to build better products and experiences.
If you’ve been invited to participate, you’ll be asked to provide feedback by completing a set of tasks while speaking your thoughts out loud. This can include performing tasks on a website or app, or simply answering questions about your experiences and sharing your opinions. At UserTesting, we refer to this process as completing a session or test.
To give feedback, you’ll record your device screen and microphone audio. This is so decision-makers at companies can see and hear your struggles and successes as you navigate their prototypes, websites, apps, and other products.
To make sure you're ready to provide feedback using your computer, review the article "How to set up the desktop recorder." If you're using a mobile device to complete your session, you can learn "How to give feedback via iOS" and "How to give feedback via Android."
Please be honest and forthright with your feedback. Sharing your point of view will help improve products and experiences.

Once you’ve completed the Quick Setup steps, you’ll be ready to start your test.
How do I complete my session?
How you complete your session will depend on the device you're using:
- If you received an invite to complete a computer test, you’ll use our desktop recorder.
- If you received an invite to complete a mobile test, you’ll either use our UserTesting App for iOS or our UserTesting App for Android.
- If you received an invite to complete a Desktop Live Conversation test, or a Mobile Live Conversation test, you’ll speak with the customer directly in a video conference call via Zoom.
What if I run into a problem?
If you're unable to start or complete your session, you can find troubleshooting tips in our article, "What to do if you run into a problem."
How will I be paid?
If you were offered compensation in exchange for providing feedback in a UserTesting session, please contact the person who invited you to do so.
You will not receive compensation through the UserTesting platform.
What kind of personal information do I have to provide?
You are never required to provide any personal information or purchase anything when testing. You can accept or decline any test that becomes available to you.
Some tests may ask you to provide a valid email or mailing address. We recommend creating a free email account (i.e. Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo) to use just for testing purposes. You can also use a fake mailing address. If you want to ensure that it’s valid, look up an address for a city office in your area and use this address when testing. To learn more about maintaining your privacy while testing, review our Privacy Guide.
What are UserTesting's Terms of Service?
